Declutter and save

Generally the kerbside collection service has been available in Townships only. Some collection boundaries however have recently been extended to parts of Kalbeeba, Concordia, Cockatoo Valley, Bethany, Vine Vale, Light Pass and additional areas of Williamstown.

Residents who have traditionally used the voucher service are encouraged to ask Solo about new kerbside eligibility when registering for the program.

Eligible properties are entitled to either one (1) hard waste kerbside collection service OR one (1) hard waste voucher service, not both, in the same Financial Year.

Terms and conditions apply*. A limited number of collections and vouchers are available and issued on a first in basis. If you are ineligible or miss out on a service this time, stay tuned for future programs.

You can place up to 2 cubic metres (2m long, 1m wide, 1m high) of material out for collection. Examples of hard waste items that will be collected include:

• Furniture items that can be reasonably lifted by 2 people
• bedding and carpets rolled up and tied in 2m bundles
  
• Metal and timber items up to 2 metres in length
  
• Washing machines, dryers, stoves and dishwashers
  
• Fridges and Freezers
• TVs, computer equipment and electrical appliances
  
• Metal sinks (no porcelain or ceramic)
• Domestic household items like toys and bikes
• Tools and gardening equipment
  
• Empty paint tins with lids removed
  
• Tree pruning’s tied in bundles up to 30 cm in diameter

The following items will not be collected as part of your hard waste collection:

• Mattresses
  
• Broken glass /Glass panes
• Porcelain and ceramic
• Liquid waste
  
• Batteries
• Car bodies, car parts, tyres or large scrap metal items
• Concrete, asbestos, bricks, rocks, dirt, cement sheeting, plasterboard
• Ammunition or explosives
• Gas bottles, cans containing paint
• Tree stumps
• Items placed in plastic bags
• Domestic recyclables such as bottles, cans, cardboard
• Domestic Waste that can go in kerbside wheelie bin
• Business waste
• Other hazardous waste items as defined under the Environment Protection Act

Items that are not acceptable for hard waste kerbside collection will not be collected and the resident will be responsible for the removal and disposal of these items. Items deemed not acceptable is at the discretion of Solo Resource Recovery.
