Heritage grants
Council is committed to supporting activities that celebrate the history, art and culture of the Barossa and its people.
Council has paused the Heritage Grants Program while we move towards a more connected approach to community investment.
Rather than continuing with a standalone heritage grants program, heritage investment will be considered through the Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy, which will provide a broader and more strategic approach to supporting the Barossa's heritage.
The Strategy will consider opportunities to create greater impact across built heritage, heritage conservation, storytelling, cultural knowledge, and the ways our history is shared and experienced by the community, connecting the investment in places, stories, and knowledge to achieve stronger outcomes for the Barossa.
The Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy is due to be presented to Council for endorsement in October 2026. Further information about future heritage investment opportunities will be provided as the Strategy is developed.
What is a heritage-listed building?
A heritage-listed building can be "heritage" for many reasons such as a place of value for reasons of history, social and cultural importance, design merit, or rarity. Heritage listings provide a list of places or objects that have such heritage significance.
