Hard waste for residents

Hard waste, also known as hard rubbish, is your unwanted household items that don't fit into or are not accepted in your red waste bin. For example, items such as fridges, washing machines, couches, televisions, furniture, computers, and more.

Hard waste can be disposed of at Springton Waste Transfer Station on the second Saturday of every month. Barossa residents are entitled to a discounted rate with proof of identity or Barossa Council rates notice.

The Barossa Council also facilitates hard waste campaigns for residential properties, known as 'Declutter and save', to help residents clean out household items and green garden waste. A limited number of kerbside collections and waste vouchers are made available each campaign. Dates and terms and conditions subject to Council discretion.

Household hazardous items including tyres, batteries, household chemicals and liquids, paints and gas bottles, are not hard waste and not accepted in red waste bins. For disposal information visit whichbin.sa.gov.au

Before disposing of an item, have a think about the following:

• Repair the item to extend its useful life
• Donate the item to a second-hand store or to someone you know if items are unwanted but in good condition.
