Junior sports oval and cricket training nets

The previous playground was decommissioned with the site repurposed for a new multipurpose junior sports oval along with new cricket training nets.

Meeting contemporary standards and providing high quality, inclusive and accessible infrastructure that will grow participation in grassroots competition and encourage wider community, multi-use facilities.

Work on the project commenced during Summer of 2021 and completed in December 2022.

Widening the main oval

The main oval will see an increase in size in order to become a regional-level facility that meets contemporary code requirements. The aim is to attract both football and cricket competitions at national and state levels, elevating the Barossa to a regional sports event and tourism destination.

Works to widen the main oval commenced in December 2021 and completed 21 February 2022.

A total project cost of $2,147,317 with support to the following funding.

Junior oval and cricket nets

A total cost of $1,451,767 including:

• The Barossa Council: $871,060
• Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing: $580,700

Widening main oval

• The Barossa Council: $695,550

• Bishop Building were awarded the contract to build the new Junior Oval on 17 November 2021.
