In our region, a local native plant refers to a species that has evolved and thrived in the specific conditions of the Barossa area. These plants have adapted to the unique soil types, climate patterns, and other environmental factors found within our local community. It's important to note that the term 'local native' differs from the broader classification of 'native,' which typically indicates a plant's country of origin, such as Australian native. A plant can be both locally indigenous to the Barossa region and considered an Australian native species.
