The Barossa now boasts a brand-new Rugby Development in Tanunda (next to the Rex), delivering a high-quality facility for the local rugby community.

The site has been transformed with a purpose-built rugby facility that meets contemporary standards, providing inclusive, gender-neutral, and accessible infrastructure. This state-of-the-art development supports the growth of rugby participation and offers a multi-use space for activities such as Touch Football and primary school sporting programs.

The Barossa Rams Rugby team has officially relocated from Lyndoch Oval to the new facility, which features gender-neutral, multi-use changerooms, a clubroom, a dedicated rugby pitch, four LED lights providing 100 lux, car parking, and internal roads.

This relocation addressed infrastructure pressures and scheduling challenges at Lyndoch Oval, driven by population growth in Southern Barossa and increasing demand across multiple sports (rugby, football, netball, cricket, athletics). The new facility now provides fit-for-purpose infrastructure that meets Australian standards for amateur rugby and touch football, enhancing player safety and performance.

With the addition of lighting for night competitions, the development has expanded participation opportunities, improved scheduling flexibility, and created a venue capable of hosting major events, including code finals. The completed facility ensures an inclusive, multi-use environment that will benefit the community for years to come.
