Nuriootpa Centennial Park Redevelopment
The Nuriootpa Centennial Park and Coulthard Reserve Concept Plan established the Park as a regional sports facility and identifies the activation of Coulthard Reserve for both recreation and community use.
The project is aimed at addressing significant unmet demand and growth pressures for soccer in the Barossa as the fastest growing participation sport in the region as well as Australia.
Further playing spaces allow the current grass pitch to be adequately maintained due to expanding the areas of use and allowing recovery time.
Adequate changing and clubroom facilities contribute to sustainability and a safe gender-equal environment, setting the club up for future generations. The facility met growth demands ahead of Women’s Football World Cup in Australia in 2023.
During November and December 2017 Council undertook extensive community consultation regarding proposed plans.
In addition to community and stakeholder engagement, Council hosted open forums and pop-ups at Barossa Co-Op Mall and Nuriootpa Centennial Park Sports Centre, attracting 19 formal and 39 informal submissions.
Council adopted the Nuriootpa Centennial Park Masterplan with a view to prioritise, phase and cost the project.
The Park completed upgraded multi-use, gender-neutral changeroom facilities in 2020.
