Work begins on creative heart for the Barossa
11 Dec 2025The ground has officially broken as construction begins on the region's latest project - the Barossa Creative Industries Centre.
A $17.5 million redevelopment of the existing Tanunda Soldiers' Memorial Hall and Barossa Regional Gallery - and home of the historic Hill & Son Grand Organ - the mullti-purpose venue is destined to become an international attraction in its own right.
Celebrating the region's heritage, culture and creativity, the building will offer performance, exhibition and workshop spaces, broadcasting and production suites, arts studio and more.
In her first official role as Deputy Mayor, Jane Evans joined Senator Marielle Smith, fellow Councillors, members of the Agile Stakeholder Group, and representatives of Tanunda RSL, Tanunda Liedertafel, Friends of the Hill & Son Grand Organ and Barossa Regional Gallery to celebrate the project’s first milestone.
"This will be a place where people connect," Deputy Mayor Evans said
Somewhere to foster the next wave of creative innovation, whilst honouring our past by highlighting our First Nations and European shared histories through storytelling.
"It will drive economic growth, add diversity to our tourism offerings and attract endless opportunities.
"I can't wait to see this destination come alive with music, creativity and inspiration while offering our arts community spaces to pursue and grow their passion. Best of all we, our community and visitors, will enjoy it too!"
The Barossa Creative Industries Centre is jointly funded by the Australian Government's Growing Regions Program and the State Government's Open Space Grant Program.
