Boost for Barossa events

The local events calendar is looking more exciting than ever following the success of a new annual sponsorship initiative offered by The Barossa Council.

More than 30 applicants requested over $137,000 in funding and in-kind support when the inaugural round of the Events Sponsorship Program was open during June.

Mayor Bim Lange said the final list was presented to Council for approval at its August meeting. This followed a thorough assessment of each application’s eligibility and alignment with set criteria by a panel from Council’s Visitor Economy and Events, and Community Development teams.

“It was a highly competitive process, but we’re thrilled to announce that 17 eligible events have been given a share in more than $47,000 worth of financial and in-kind support,” Mayor Lange said.

“From heritage and eco-tourism events to our much-loved town Christmas parades, they all help create a vibrant year-round events calendar and deliver great outcomes for our community, visitors and local businesses.”

Receiving sponsorship for events to be staged in the 2026/27 financial year are:

• Angaston Show, $2,000
• Angaston Christmas Parade, $4,000
• Barossa Christmas Parade, $4,000
• Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade and Street Party, $2,000
• Lyndoch Christmas Street Party, $4,000
• Barossa & District Pipe Band: Winter Flame, $2,000
• Barossa Farmers Market: The Barossa Food Loop - Monthly Cooking Demo, $2,500
• Barossa German Language Association: Barossa Konzert 2026, $1,000
• Barossa Outdoors: The Big Paddle Warren Reservoir FloatFest, $1,000
• Barossa Rodeo, $1,500
• Menglers Peak Distillery: Cocktail Crayz at the Square, $500
• Mount Pleasant Farmers Market: SA Spring Garden Festival, $2,000
• Mount Pleasant Progress Association (four events): Foundation Stone Centenary Day, 24 Hour Theatre Challenge, Square and Bush Dance, Centenary Final Event and Slava Grigoryan Classical occasion, $500
• Mount McKenzie Hall Centenary Celebrations, $500

The annual Events Sponsorship Program will re-open again next May with online applications accepted for events planned in the 2027/28 financial year.
