What's filled with beautiful images of the Barossa, its people and culture, and has a habit of popping up in all corners of the world as it foretells the year ahead?

The Barossa Calendar of course!

The Barossa Visitor Centre team is getting in extra early this year, planning ahead for the 2027 edition with the annual photographic competition now open for entries.

Megan Sweeney, Team Leader Visitor Service, said launching the competition earlier gives people more time to capture the perfect image.

“We want the 2027 calendar to be our best ever,” said Megan.

“There are many exciting events coming up, like Gather Round and our Barossa Food and Wine Village. Easter is almost here, vintage is in full swing, and the colours of the season are changing. So, we thought why not bring the launch forward and invite both visitors and locals to capture what’s going on right now.”

The team is encouraging more young photographers to enter and bring their perspective to the popular calendar which showcases the Barossa through a creative lens.

“We’d love to see what young people think makes the Barossa unique and special. What are their views, their moments, the objects that captures their imagination?

“And if you haven’t entered before, enter!

"How beautiful would it be to feature photos from every demographic."

Thirteen images, including the cover shot, will be chosen for the 2027 calendar. All will feature in an exhibition at the Barossa Visitor Centre as part of the SALA Festival during which the public can cast their votes for the “People’s Choice Award”.

The photographer receiving the most votes will win a $250 Barossa Made Wares & Food Pantry Voucher.

“We’ve had some amazing entries over the past 11 years since the competition was introduced, and we can’t wait to see what people come up with this time around!”
