National recognition
24 Jul 2024Tanunda Cricket Club, in partnership with Council, has been awarded high commendation from Cricket Australia for the new facilities built at Tanunda Recreation Park.
The national award recognises the redevelopment of the precinct, which includes the new $6.49 million clubroom and changeroom facilities, plus extensive spectator viewing and storage.
Fiona Baxter, Cricket Australia's Head of Infrastructure, visited the site to present Mayor Bim Lange and Tanunda Cricket Club President Stuart Swan with plaques as part of the Community Cricket Awards Community Facility Project of the Year recognition.
"Delivering this facility has been all about partnerships," Mayor Lange said, acknowledging representatives from South Australian Cricket Association, Tanunda Cricket Club, Tanunda Football Club est.1908, Tanunda Netball Club and Council who attended the presentation.
"I especially commend Tanunda Cricket Club and volunteers who have been at the table since this project began and congratulate each and every one of you on this well-deserved award."
The recognition comes after Tanunda Cricket Club received the State award in March from SACA.
“With the support of the State, we’ve invested more than $11 million to develop a venue that we believe rivals any other regional facility in the State,” Mayor Lange said.
“Just as importantly, this redevelopment ensures our community can keep participating in sport, which is what grassroots cricket is all about.”
