Let's shape wellbeing together
1 Jul 2024A new landmark Barossa Wellbeing Project will be guided by local residents to build a happier, healthier and more connected community.
The project is being led by Council in partnership with Preventive Health SA.
It will kick off with extensive community engagement with community members, organisations, service providers and community networks to seek people’s thoughts and experiences about wellbeing.
The findings will help Council develop a Wellbeing Plan to enhance community wellbeing in ways that are practical and effective.
Mayor Bim Lange says importantly, the initiative will have measurable results.
We know how important it is for our community members to feel good in all aspects of their lives.

“Our goal is to learn more about the successes and challenges of staying physically and mentally well and socially connected.
“This includes what’s important to people’s health and wellbeing. We want to know what initiatives they’d like to be involved in, and what might prevent them from doing activities that make them feel happy, healthy and connected to community.
“With the right information, we can plan for current and future needs, opportunities and priorities.”
People can provide feedback in a variety of ways, including online at yoursay.barossa.sa.gov.au and in person from 1 July until 9 August. Surveys will be made available at local churches, businesses, schools, sporting clubs and facilities and by request to Council.
“This feedback will help guide where we focus our efforts, as a Council and community, complemented by tools to help measure and monitor community wellbeing,” Mayor Lange said.
This is a joint project between The Barossa Council and Preventive Health SA.
