Blockbuster footy line-up at Barossa Park in July 2026
10 Dec 2025July 2026 is shaping up to be a blockbuster month at Barossa Park, with a packed program of footy action set to showcase the region’s iconic sporting venue.
Barossa has successfully tendered a bid to host the 2026 THINK! Road Safety SA Country Football Championships from 10-12 July, bringing hundreds of SA’s top male and female footballers to the region.
A Hostplus SANFL league clash between Central District and South Adelaide will also be a highlight on day two of the Championships on Saturday, 11 July. Then off the back of a footy-filled weekend, Barossa Park will, for the first time, host the 2026 State Country game on Saturday, 25 July.
Mayor Bim Lange said securing the Country Championships and additional football games is another coup for the region and supports Council’s strategy and vision to attract marquee events at Barossa Park.
“Barossa Park is purpose built to host sporting events of this calibre and securing this bid, complements the investment that’s been made in this regional facility,” he said.
“You couldn’t ask for a better venue to watch some of SA’s most talented country male and female footballers."
“We’re excited to host the SANFL Country Championships again and look forward to welcoming everyone to the Barossa. The event itself brings an enormous economic boost to the region with hundreds of additional visitors.
“In addition, securing the Centrals v South SANFL game and the State game just adds to a huge month of elite footy action in the Barossa.”
Alongside April’s Gather Round games and regular club use with football, netball, tennis, little athletics, bowls and pigeons, these upcoming activations reinforce Barossa Park’s capability the multipurpose venue plays in supporting sport, community connection and driving local economic activity.
