Back-to-back win for Barossa Park
4 Sep 2025The Barossa Council and the State Government’s jointly funded $45.7 million Barossa Park will take centre stage again when Gather Round returns to the Barossa in 2026.
The AFL announced the return of Gather Round…A Festival of Footy for April 9-12 to South Australia. Premier Peter Malinauskas confirmed Barossa Park is set to once again feature at Gather Round in 2026 with the fixture to be confirmed later this year.
“Pleasingly, the investment we’ve made in Barossa Park is delivering strong dividends for the Barossa community already,” said Premier Malinauskas.
The Premier acknowledged the first ever AFL matches at the new Barossa Park facility helped generate $4.87 million in direct expenditure for the internationally renowned wine region.
“We are excited and appreciate the continued support from Premier Malinauskas and AFL CEO Andrew Dillon to once again include Barossa Park in the fixture.
“Barossa Park is a significant community investment, on behalf of the State Government and The Barossa Council.
“Already, we’ve seen the success of Gather Round at Barossa Park. This coupled with local sporting activities including Barossa District Football and Netball Club’s season, where we’ve had enormous positive feedback from visitors during the home and away games.
“We’re looking forward to further enhancing the whole experience in 2026. The Festival of Footy blew everybody’s mind last year and we’ll build on that for next year. It will only get better!”
Through collaboration with the AFL, State Government of South Australia, Barossa businesses and the community, Council is excited to deliver an unforgettable Festival of Footy that reinforce Barossa’s reputation as a premier destination for events and experiences.
