5 Aug 2024A wall mounted height adjustable change table is offering an accessible option for those with mobility needs.
Located within the facilities adjacent the inclusive playground at Tanunda Recreation Park, the change table has a weight limit of 80 kilograms and stores flat against the wall when not in use. It’s easily lowered to the right height when needed and requires minimal manual handling by carers.
Matt Stevens, newly appointed Disability and Inclusion Access Advisory Group (DAIAG) Chairperson, said it was a welcome addition to public provisions available in the region.
“It’s great to see The Barossa Council’s commitment to access and inclusion for people with disabilities,” said Matt.
This is a good example of enhancing what we’ve got and improving conveniences, services and facilities for those who need it.
Carrying on the legacy of Mark Pfitzner, who chaired the Group for the past seven years, Matt is looking forward to bringing his experience of working for a disability service provider to DAIAG.
“I’m pleased to provide my input and be part of a group that positively impacts the lives of others,” said Matt.
“Mark’s left a strong legacy of community involvement and creating a voice to participate in disability and inclusion access for The Barossa Council.
“We’ll continue to make sure we have a strong community position on public development initiatives and improvements to infrastructure, capital projects and services.
“We get briefed and have the opportunity to offer feedback and get involved with things like the inclusive playground here at Tanunda so we can provide different options for different needs in our community.”
Other public provisions available in the area include the Changing Places facility at The Rex Barossa and toilets at the Barossa Visitor Centre/Cycle Hub which are both accessible 24 Hours through the Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) system.
