Keyneton Road Accelerated Sealing Programme is being staged over 3 years.
Keyneton Road Upgrade & Sealing Project - Stage 1 – 2023/24 – Project budget $220,000
Stage 1 was completed in 2023/24.
The scope of the project included drainage works, road pavement upgrade and spray sealing of 1.44 km of Keyneton Road from Moculta township to 1.44 km East of Moculta.
Keyneton Road Upgrade & Sealing Project - Stage 2 – 2024/25 – Project budget $750,000
Stage 2 is nearing completion with sealing works completed in mid-February 2025.
The scope of the project included drainage works, road pavement upgrade and spray sealing of 2.38 km of Keyneton Road from Council’s boundary to 2.38 km North of the boundary.
Mid-Murray Council upgraded and sealed the adjacent 1.3 km section of Keyneton Road, as part of the same construction contract.
Funding under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program Phase 4 has been secured for both Stage 1 and 2.
The project aims to improve road safety and efficiency whilst minimising environmental impacts, with no native tree removals and the reuse of existing road pavement material as part of the upgrade design.
Traffic restrictions are in place and delays can be expected at various times in the coming months.
Council thanks motorists for their patience and understanding whilst this important road upgrade project is being constructed.
Keyneton Road Upgrade & Sealing Project - Stage 3 – 2025/26 – Subject to funding in 2025/26
Stage 3 is scheduled for construction in 2025/26 but this stage is subject to funding approval in Council’s 2025/26 budget.
The proposed scope of the project (if funded) includes drainage works, road pavement upgrade and spray sealing of the final 1.78 km of unsealed road from the end of Stage 1 works to the start of Stage 2 works. This stage also includes land acquisition to enable curve realignment in two separate locations
