The Local History Room at the Nuriootpa Library has a great collection of resources to help explore local and family history.
Reflecting the history, development, culture and society of the Barossa region, discover information about European settlement, German heritage and First Nations peoples. Find resources for Barossa towns and smaller localities, food traditions, schools, wine heritage and much more.
The collection of family histories, local newspapers, genealogical databases and South Australian birth, death and marriage indexes are invaluable for family historians.

Microfilmed Newspapers – The Leader, Barossa News, Barossa and Light Herald, Australische Zeitung (various dates) complement the print newspaper collection.

Access the growing collection of digitised images from the Barossa Valley & Archives Historical Trust (BVAHT) collection.
Burial records for the Barossa council-managed Public Cemeteries can be searched using the cemeteries register.
The Barossa Cemeteries Heritage Resource features entries on more than 70 cemeteries and hundreds of pioneer settlers from the 1840s onwards. A project of the Barossa Council Public Library, the free online Resource includes locality details, useful links to burial records, as well as site and gravestone photos.
The Barossa Heritage Trails App is a great way to explore the Barossa and discover the stories behind its historic sites and buildings. The interactive App features six self-guided walking trails and one driving trail, highlighting the rich and sometimes little-known heritage stories and experiences of the region.
Ancestry Library Edition provides access to historic records such as census and electoral roll data, birth, death, marriage and baptismal records, passenger lists, court and military records, and much more. Ancestry Library Edition is freely available at all Barossa Libraries.
The British Newspaper Archive has the world’s largest online collection of historical British and Irish newspapers. Access it for free within the Local History Room at the Nuriootpa Library.
Find My Past is a family history and genealogy resource containing millions of family history records. Access it for free within the Local History Room at the Nuriootpa Library.
SAILIS database gives access to digitised South Australian land title records with downloadable Certificate of Title (CT) images.
Trove provides access to digital copies of newspapers, Government Gazettes, maps, magazines, images, and more.
