Lyndoch Seed Library

The Lyndoch Seed Library is a collaborative project between the Lyndoch Sustainable Community Group and The Barossa Council Public Library. Seed Libraries are a community library for promoting sustainable gardening practices, the art of growing food, and saving and exchanging seeds.

How do they work?

The seed library stocks a variety of seeds which community members can borrow (take home), plant, nurture and harvest from at home. Once seeds reach a mature level, they can then be returned to the seed library to share with others.

We are currently welcoming all seed donations for the library. A collections box, envelopes and a donation form are available at Lyndoch Library along with information on harvesting and collecting seeds.

The sustainability collection aims to provide a range of resources for all ages across a range of formats on sustainability topics. Topics included are:

• Sustainability
• Sustainable living and sustainable futures
• Growing fruits and vegetables
• Indoor and outdoor gardening, including agriculture, viticulture, and small space growing
• Building green homes
• Water and energy saving
• Recycling and upcycling
• Sustainable art, craft, homewares
• Permaculture

How to identify and locate the collection:

Look for the green spot with a seedling icon (shown below) on the front cover of our books. The collection will be housed at our Lyndoch Library however you are able to request it to be delivered to any library in South Australia.
