Community Wastewater Management Systems (CWMS)

We offer Community Wastewater Management System (CWMS) sewerage collection and treatment and non-drinking, non-residential water supply from treated effluent received into the CWMS

All sewerage billing and prices are incorporated on your Council rates notice as a separate line item.

Consideration is given to limit the total rates and CWMS rates increase to agreed levels as determined by Elected Members. The price increase is determined by operational costs and a 10 Year Capital Works Plan. All water prices are based on contracted agreed costs per KL with a CPI annual increase.

Pursuant to Section 188 of the Local Government Act, the Council requires an augmentation charge to be paid for each additional allotment connected to the CWMS. The charge allows for new loads to be added to the CWMS and is based on the need to construct additional treatment infrastructure to cater for the additional wastewater.

Prior to an application for Section 51 clearance, payment of the CWMS augmentation charge is required before the Certificate of Approval can be issued. The charge payable is the current fee due at the time of payment, per allotment. Please note that no connection to the CWMS can be commenced without written approval from all relevant authorities.

The Boundary Connection point (I.P.) is located on the outlet drain of the septic tank and is your property’s connection to the Council CWMS. It provides an important access point to the CWMS network and is utilised for repairs and removal of blockages.

Please ensure that your boundary connection (I.P.) has clear access at all times.

Do not cover or build over your boundary connection points (I.P.).

CWMS desludging occurs once every 4 years maximum, depending on the size and requirements of your system.
